Charleston Therapy Services

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how our thoughts create emotions, our emotions lead to behaviors and how our behaviors reinforce our thoughts. The goal is to discover your own behavioral pattern and work on skills to break the cycle.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses on a willingness of acceptance over our thoughts, emotions and what is not within our control. It aims to create a better relationship with thoughts and emotions to have better cognitive flexibility. Emotions aren’t inherently good or bad, they just are. ACT uses values and strengths to foster change.

  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

MBCT uses CBT as a backbone and incorporates mindfulness to better relate to how we think and feel. We will work on identifying how emotions show up in your body to recognize warning signs when your mood starts to shift. MBCT helps us find present moment awareness and working towards looking at our thoughts with curiosity rather than judgement.

  • Eye Movement Densitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR was designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation. We will look at past events that have laid the groundwork for distress and feeling stuck, identify how past trauma shows up in the present and work towards acquiring skills to adapt in the future.
